Springtime in the Rocky Mountains ... it's here at last !!!
Spring is springing in Montana!!
Here at The Jeffers Inn we are enjoying the color and wonderful fragrance of our blooming cherry and apple trees. The lawns are greening up and the flower boarders are coming up. The birds are also beginning to return to us. The seed feeders are full and the birds are enjoying a feast. We have seen young Canadian Geese still in their yellow/green coloring by the lake. The eagles are also nesting.

The Jeffers Inn is very proud and excited to begin a concert series during the summer of 2012 and beyond. We hope to expand these concerts to include one concert every month from June through September. Each concert will be a charity event with proceed funds awarded to a local college student. This year Ms. Rachel Moeller, a photography student attending Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, will be both our concert hostess and funds recipient.
For our first concert we will be hosting an evening of Native American Lakota Flute music. The concert will be held in The Encampment on the Inn’s property. A social hour will precede the concert and include a silent auction to help Ms. Moeller with her college expenses. Concert seating at 6:00 PM. The concert will last about one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes.
We will be seating only 100 people under a tented concert venue. Drinks ( ice tea, lemon aid and coffe ) and Dessert are included. Remember to dress warmly as this is an evening event and the Montana evening can be cool. A campfire will be blazing for post concert fun.

The Jeffers Inn Guests Enjoy Fishing On The Madison River
Summer 2011 was fantastic for Fly Fishing on the Madision Riverand the weather was fine all Summer and Fall.
Summer 2011 was fantastic for Fly Fishing on the Madision Riverand the weather was fine all Summer and Fall.
The Madison River is giving guests of The Jeffers Inn all the fun and adventure they can stand. With fewer fisherman visiting the area in the last three seasons ... the people that are out and about are seeing more large Brown and Rainbow Trout taking the flies this season. Lots of small "Freshman" trout are also taking a fly or two. Big fish and lots of native fish production ... makes for a good thing.
Most people fishing on the Madison River are remarking as to how they feel like they have the river to themselves ... but that is just fine if you like a world class fishing experience in one of the most beautiful places in Western America.
Add in a great place to stay ... and you have it all.

Spring is Springing!! At Long Last!!!
It has been a very long winter in Montana. The snow pack is over 200% of normal ... with spring creek run off just getting started. The hills and meadows are now turning a lovely bright green. We are starting to see flowers blooming along the roadsides. The trees at The Jeffers inn are in full bloom. It is rare thing when ALL of the Jeffers trees and lilacs are blooming at the same time. This season ... it is happening ... the perfume of spring is indescribable!!
The song birds are also now showing up at The Jeffers Inn feeders.
Grosbeaks, House Finches, Western Tanagers, Goldfinches, Robins, Waxwings, Doves, Chickadees, Tree Swallows, Magpies, Sparrows, Orioles, Warblers, Lazuli Buntings, Blue Jays and Grackles are all eating over six pounds of seed per day!! It's quite a show. No Hummingbirds yet ... they will visit later this summer.
To us at The Jeffers Inn there is no greater joy than sitting on the patio and watching the birds.
The quiet setting, the birds going about their day and a Montana Spring blooming all around you!!
Perfect!!

New Bridge At The Jeffers Inn
New Bridge
The Jeffers Inn Has A New Bridge Across Cedar Creek
During the middle weeks of May 2011, Leigh and Bob Fosnot hired Matson Excavation of Ennis, Montana to repair the aging bridge that allows excess to The Encampment.
Gordy Matson and his fine crew removed the old bridge, spent time reconstructing the Cedar Creek stream bed and banks, and installed a 15 foot squash oval pipe and bank stabilization blocks to create the new bridge.
Work progressed quickly and the project was completed in two days of work.
Bob Fosnot then finished the work with local stone and the planting of native vegetation.
The new bridge is wider, stronger, safer and adds to the
wonderful charm of The Jeffers Inn.

A Trip Into Yellowstone National Park
The Jeffers Inn and Vacations In Yellowstone Park are teaming up to bring Inn guests the fun and beauty of Yellowstone National Park ... the easy way.
Yellowstone National Park is only 76 miles away from The Jeffers Inn. Norris and his wife Carol, owners of Vacations In Yellowstone Park Tours, are your knowledgeable tour guides as you travel south along the Madison River to the West Yellowstone, MT entrance of the park.
For many, a visit to Yellowstone National Park, one of the most popular national parks in the United States, may be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Even if it isn’t, you’ll want to enjoy every single moment of your time at Yellowstone … and you will not want to miss a thing. That’s where Vacations In Yellowstone Park comes in.
They are Yellowstone National Park tour experts!
You will be picked up at The Jeffers Inn early in the morning and be taken to Yellowstone National Park in a comfortable, air-conditioned 11 passenger van. The trip, with lunch provided, will last most of the day. When you return to The Jeffers Inn, drinks and evening snacks will be ready for you to enjoy.
You will have a friendly driver that is an expert on Yellowstone National Park, knowledgeable about the mountains, geography, facts about Montana, and also knows the local wildlife and the surrounding areas.
Your tour driver will provide you with an interesting, stress-free, safe, and fun trip that you will completely enjoy as you take in the sights, animals, and beauty of the Yellowstone National Park.
During your visit to Yellowstone you’ll see and experience many different things. You’ll be able to see Elk grazing in a field below the majestic Montana mountains, you can take pictures and stop and look at Big Horn Sheep walking right along the side of the road and see Buffalo walking right down the middle of the road creating the famous "Buffalo Jams". The wildlife in Yellowstone National Park is everywhere and easy to see.
The thermal features within the park are also amazing. They are what gave the park the early name of "Colter's Hell". For years the park's thermal features were considered just tall tales by Indians and mountain mes. Yellowstone has the most diverse and intact collection of geysers, hot springs, mudpots, and fumaroles in the world. More than 300 geysers make up two thirds of all those found on earth. With more than 10,000 thermals, colored hot springs, bubbling mudpots, and steaming fumaroles, you have a place like no other! Words like “Geyserland”, “Fairyland”, “Wonderland” have been used to describe the natural wonders and magic of this unique park.
While visiting Yellowstone National Park, you may see Bison, Elk, Coyotes, Grizzly Bears, Moose, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Trumpeter Swans, Black Bears and Yogi Bear (very elusive)!
We promise you that you will experience all the wonders of Yellowstone – and not miss a thing – it’s an awesome experience that is hard to put into words!

El Western Cabins and Lodges
Conference Center and Bear Creek Meadow
Conference Center and Bear Creek Meadow
The doors of our El western Conference Center opened for group business in the summer of 2000. The building was originally a restaurant, then a tackle shop. After a remodel that included adding a spacious deck and a western-style facade, it now serves a meeting and gathering spot. Over the past ten years, a marine reunion, board meetings, scientific researchers, bird watchers, painting classes, art auctions, civic banquets and film production crews have utilized the conference center for their activities. In 2010, we added wide, sliding doors to the front of the building to provide smother access to the patio.
The experience we gained hosting these events was put to the ultimate test on September 5, 2010 as we welcomed family and friends of our daughter and her fiancĂ©’ from around the globe for their wedding. It was a joyous occasion and made us appreciate, even more, the importance of this amazing place in our lives. On a personal note, we wish to thank all of you who sent good wishes and were patient with our need to close the property over Labor day weekend.
We hope you will find time to gather at El Western. We will do our very best to help you create a lasting memory or hold a productive meeting. Whatever your event, we believe the beauty of our surrounding will provide the perfect backdrop.
Take advantage of our lower rates from May 1, 2011 to June 14, 2011 and after September 18th to book your meeting or special event.
